About the founder

Dr. Soheyl Borjian founded Canosult in 2023 to support communities, agencies, and organizations in addressing complex water resources and flood risk challenges through rigorous analysis, advanced modeling, and practical products.

With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Borjian has consistently delivered high-impact results for public and private sector clients. His work has supported major agencies and organizations including FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Texas General Land Office, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, The Nature Conservancy, and the City of Philadelphia. He has supported nationally significant initiatives such as FEMA’s Risk MAP program, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Connecticut River Flow Restoration Study, the Texas General Land Office’s Combined River Basin Flood Studies, the Louisiana Watershed Initiative, and Philadelphia’s Green City, Clean Waters Program. In addition, he has developed and filed multiple patent applications associated with Canosult's products, Modelixa and Planixa.

Dr. Borjian holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Water Resources) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where his research focused on applying optimization and deep learning to complex watershed and flood risk problems. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas and Florida, a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), and a Project Management Professional (PMP).
